While I love games like these (very cool idea) I have NO IDEA what these are! I'll check back later to learn the correct answers, but thanks for doing this just the same!
I do think though, that 3 and 4 are "nice" lady bugs. Two is a "bad" one (the Japanese one?) and #1 is another beetle all together.
Speaking of insects, copy and paste this URL in your browser:
1.Pink lady beetle (Coleomegilla maculata): This is a fairly common beetle, native to the United States. 2. Multicolored Asian lady beetle (Harmonia axyridis): A very common invasive species that you may notice invading your home! 3. Seven Spotted (Coccinella septempunctata): Another exotic lady beetle. This species is not as common as the Multicolored Asian lady beetle, but it is still fairly common especially in alfalfa fields. 4. Orange Spotted (Brachiacantha ursina): This is a native, but rare lady beetle.
The Agricultural Landscape Ecology (ALE) Lab is located in the Entomology Department at The Ohio State University in Wooster, OH. We study beneficial arthropods. We are interested in how disturbances within the landscape such as agricultural management practices, invasions of exotic species, and land use changes influence beneficial arthropods and the ecosystem services they provide such as pollination and herbivore suppression. In this blog we will post information about our research and outreach activities as well as current happenings in the lab.
